THE PRONAOS OF THE TEMPLE OF EDFU
[PART OF THE PORTICO OF EDFOU]

Despite the sweltering 98°F. heat (in the shade) of 23 November 1838, Roberts' was so taken with the view from under the Pronaos or portico of the Temple that he endured. The beauty of each pair of the lotus and palm massive capitals beautifully rendered, and accentuated by the desert sand which then half buried the Ptolemaic era temple.
