THE TEMPLE OF EDFU
[TEMPLE OF EDFOU, ANCIENT APPOLINOPOLIS, UPPER EGYPT]

The temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, was built in the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC. Considered to be the best preserved temple of ancient Egypt, it was lacking only the great molding that once graced the top of the pylon.
