Windsor Castle in the present time [Title differs from that of the painting] this is a scarce proof before letters published in 1851 after the 1843 painting by Sir Edwin Landseer entitled Windsor castle in modern times Depicted are Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Victoria the Princess Royal, Atkinson's engraving of Queen Victoria's dress and Albert's attire is outstanding. The scene is, of course, entirely manufactured for the conversation piece—game would not be spread out with such compositional intent in the drawing room, or spread out in the drawing room at all for that matter!—but this is a large part of the painting’s charm and success.
