A peaceful backlit pastoral scene of a shepherd attending his flock with the sunlight reflected off a lake painted in the muted earth tones typical of Flagg's work.
Henry Peabody Flagg was born in Somerville MA in 1859. He was a pupil of Carolus-Duran in Paris. A member of the New York Arch. League., 1899; Boston Art Club; Salma Club, 1904. There are two historical paintings in Flower Memorial Library, Watertown NY. His address in 1929 was 26 E. 23rd St., NY, NY. He died in 1937. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Fieldings and Mallett.
