This bucolic scene was captured at a significant time in the history of Upper Canada for the advent of the railway was a considerable boon to progress. The Buffalo-Lake Huron Rail-Road crossed the Bayfield River near Seaforth, suggesting a possible location. If so, this is a very early view of the area and probably has considerable historical significance. Visible on the islet to the right and stranded within the river are square cut logs another symbol of the developing economy of the region. Examples of his work are in the collections of the AGO. & NGC.
