Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson 1st. Viscount Nelson, 1st.Duke of Bronté KB. 1758-1805 also known as Admiral Nelson, was a British Royal Naval Flag officer. His inspired leadership, strategy and tactics brought about a number of decisive British Naval victories during the Napoleonic wars. He is still regarded as one of the greatest naval commanders in history.
John Hoppner 1758-1810. In 1775 he entered the Royal Academy. In 1778 Hoppner took a silver medal for drawing from life, and in 1782 the Academy's highest award, the gold medal for historical painting. Strongly influnced by the works of Sir Joshua Reynolds, Hoppner rose to become a rival to Sir Thomas Lawrence and received considerable Royal patronage.
