A fine sepia toned aquatint ca.1790 aquatint depicting an artist sitting sketching the scene before him:-a picturesque half timbered house is bathed in alpine sunlight within a steep sided mountain river valley, to his right villagers toil to extract a large log from a rain swollen river below a waterfall. A fine dark proof before letters impression. Such bucolic scenes were often the subject of the pencil or brush of 18th. & 19th. century artist on the Grand Tour at the beginning of the Age of Romanticism.
