S.S.Finlay was born in Northern Ireland and painted in both Ulster and Ontario. He relocated to Toronto in 1911, where he was employed by The Evening Telegram. A teacher at Toronto's Central Technical Institute, Finlay was a member of the Arts & Letters Club, the Ontario Watercolour Society, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts of London, England. His works are becoming harder to find as a result prices for his works have risen significantly over the last few years.
