Since 1763 the name 'Russborough' has been synonymous with collecting and dealing in fine art. In the closing decades of the last century the historic town of Port Hope has become home to Lord Russborough's Annex, which specialises in an individual mix of antique maps, paintings and prints.

While Lord Russborough's Annex features a great many works of museum calibre, we also offer a wonderful selection of prints priced at under $100.

This is one of the better examples of Hillier’s landscapes, displaying much impressionist influence especially in the treatment of the mist rolling off the hills. This painting is enlivened not just by the depiction of watering cattle, but by the inclusion of the softly lit young woman and her dog as they walk along the lough side path.

High to the right is seen towering Jack’s Crag (1860), later known as Great Crag. Borrowdale Beck runs to the right of the track. Emily Warren's expertise as a fine atmospheric landscape artist comes to the fore in this fine watercolour as does her expertise in capturing the architectural details of one of London's most iconic memorials. Seen here in the evening light is Baily's statue of Nelson atop his granite column by William Railton (1840) and surrounded by Sir Edwin Landseer's lions. The view is across the 1829 square at evening rush hour,

Depicted is Loch Maree in the Wester Ross N.W. Scottish Highlands. A croft hugs the glacial slope of the benign heather, furz, and mixed pine hardwood clad lakeside, now the Nature Conservancy's national reserve of Beinn Eighe. On the opposite side of the loch, the slope rises to the 3, 217 ft. wedge shaped grey blue Slioch mountain. In ancient times, the waters of the loch were thought to have curative effects, with being submerged in the water thought to be a cure for lunacy.

One can almost taste the tang of sea-salt, and smell the ozone off the sea, as birds wheel in flocks off the precipitous Cornish coast. In the foreground, fishermen toil to launch rowing boats through the rolling surf as a young lad looks on. This is a quite splendid atmospheric watercolour, almost impressionistic in its execution.
